Research practicum application process

To apply for HLSC/KINE 4998/4999U Research Practicum for the 2025/2026 academic year, follow these steps:

Step 1

To ensure you are eligible for a research practicum in 2025-2026, you must:

  • Be entering the final year of the Bachelor of Health Science program (Human Health Science specialization, Kinesiology Major or Public Health specialization) or the Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences program for the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Be in clear academic standing with a GPA of 2.7 or higher. Please be aware that we have 23 captivating projects available, accommodating a total of 40 students.  Due to constraints in project availability and student placement opportunities, admission will be competitive. 
  • Have successfully completed HLSC 3910U or KINE 2140U* before September 2025.
  • Note: HLSC 3910U/KINE 2140U is a prerequisite for HLSC 4998/4999U.

Step 2

Browse the research practicum projects for 2025-2026 to select the positions that interest you most.

  • NoteYou can apply for a maximum of three positions. You must rank your choices in order of preference.

Step 3

Fill out the research practicum application google form. 

Combine all documents into a PDF (one PDF per project), and upload the PDF to the Google Form.

  • Include a cover letter explaining why you are interested in this project/position and why you believe you are suited for the position.
  • A copy of your current resumé.
  • A copy of your transcript (an unofficial transcript is acceptable, and you can access it on MyOntarioTech website).
  • Note: To apply for a project, you must submit one PDF, including your cover letter, resumé, and transcript. Please use your name followed by the corresponding “project application name” as listed on the research practicum project description (e.g. Dubrowski 1). You will be able to upload up to three PDF files, one for each of the projects you are interested in.

Step 4

Submit applications via the Google Form by April 14, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
